DESCRIPTION:Kahua O Ke Ola Foundations for Prosperity the 2012 Family 
 Financial Empowerment Symposium – the follow up to the December 2010
  Hawai‘i Asset Building Symposium-- will be held on O‘ahu from We
 dnesday, June 27, 2012 (late afternoon start) to Friday, June 29, 2012
 . The Cities for Financial Empowerment (CFE) Coalition (www.cfecoali
 tion.org) will be participating in the symposium. The CFE Coalition is
  comprised of the City/County governments from New York, San Francisco
 , Chicago, County of Hawai‘i, Los Angeles, Miami, Newark, Providence
 , San Antonio, Savannah, and Seattle.  Hawai'i County is the only cou
 nty involved in CFE.\nThe 2012 Symposium will engage participants from
  Hawai‘i’s:public sector (federal, state, city/county),private se
 ctor (businesses, financial institutions, and philanthropy), and com
 munity sector (community-based organizations, faith-based organizatio
 ns, and families) in dialogue around effectively using a network appro
 ach to increasing family and community self sufficiency across the isl
 ands.Participants will have a chance to look at the challenges and opp
 ortunities related to multi-sector approaches to asset development pol
 icy, programs, projects, and funding and financing strategies. The Sym
 posium will also include an opportunity for participants to immerse th
 emselves in community to explore place-based asset building strategies
  and interact with families in the setting and context of their own co
 mmunities. The 2010 Symposium set the foundation for such initiatives 
 as the development of ResourcesMatch.org in Hawai‘i; the launch of t
 he Kids Savings Initiative across Hawai‘i Island; establishment of H
 o‘owaiwai Network – Hawai‘i Island; in addition to a range of in
 dividual community-based asset building initiatives. The 2012 Symposiu
 m will continue this focus on action to move on policy and practice in
 itiatives that increase the ability of Hawai‘i’s families and comm
 unities to have choice and control over their future.\n\nFor more info
